Texas A&M Health is looking for an Advanced Security Officer to serve as a member of the Security Team at the Health Science Center. The Advanced Security Officer, under general supervision, provides a secure environment for the building, faculty, staff, students and visitors who frequent the building, meet and direct visitors, monitor cameras, alarm systems and patrol the building and grounds to insure the safety and security of the occupants and visitors at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Schedule: Ability to work from 12:00PM to 10:00PM. Ability to work outside of a M-F schedule, to include some weekends and holidays.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience

  • One year as a Security Officer or other equivalent full-time employment

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license within 30 days of employment

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Applicant must successfully complete a background investigation to include but not limited to driving history, criminal background and credit history

  • Ability to work from 12:00PM to 10:00PM

  • Ability to work outside of a M-F schedule, to include some weekends and holidays

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • College credits in Criminal Justice

  • At least one (1) year experience as a Security Officer or law enforcement officer in a university or health care setting

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Level II or higher security officer certification. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of university security procedures.  Ability to work with limited supervision

Responsibilities:

  • Security Duties - Provides security visibility for the Bryan Campus; provide directions for guests and visitors. Monitor access control systems and CCTV.  Provides Security escort upon request. Performs scheduled building locking/unlocking and security rounds to include parking and facilities. Works closely with the Security Sergeant to ensure HSC personnel, guests and facilities are safe and secure.  Works with the Security Sergeant to review, test and implement the HSC Crisis Management Plan. Responds to fire, security alarms, 911 and other emergency calls on campus. Promotes close working relationships with local law enforcement departments to ensure compatibility of communications equipment, proper access to facilities, familiarity with facilities and campus layouts, and safety for emergency response to HSC facilities and campuses.  Works with the Security Sergeant to implement and coordinate security procedures and protocols.

  • Parking Enforcement Duties - Enforce parking regulations through assisting campus patrons, assists with traffic control for special functions.

  • Safety Duties - Reports safety hazards or maintenance failures. Provides response to requests for access into HSC facilities.  Provides first aid at the scene of a crime or accident and/or summons emergency medical services.

  • Receiving Duties - Receiving of items delivered to campus dock area and distribute appropriately.  Distribute campus mail.  Maintain logs of all items incoming and outgoing from dock area. Perform other duties as assigned.
