Nurse practitioner, Student Health Center

Position Description: This is a 10-month, permanent, part-time clinical position providing primary care to patients in the Student Health Center.  Employment in this benefits-eligible position is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm, from August to May.  

Minimum Qualifications: Current Kansas Board of Nursing license as a Nurse Practitioner; Unrestricted DEA Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience rendering primary care services in an ambulatory setting
  • Previous experience in women’s health to include contraceptive care counseling and services
  • CPR Certification
  • AANP or AACN Board Certification
  • Previous training or experience in psychiatric nursing

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and documenting patient health information
  • Initiating appropriate medical treatment and care management consistent with assessments and diagnoses under a protocol approved by the collaborating physician
  • Serving as a resource to other staff members as needed for health care promotion, prevention, and maintenance
  • Providing patient education and counseling
  • Working cooperatively with colleagues and staff
  • Presenting programs
  • Serving on committees and attending events as requested
  • Completing clinical documentation in timely manner
  • Maintaining medical skills and knowledge
  • Remaining compliant with the rules and regulations applicable to the healthcare industry, in particular to the privacy and security standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
