Provides diagnosis and treatment of common acute illnesses, and prevents and maintains health care for students with stable chronic illnesses. Provides physical examinations for healthy students within prescribed guidelines. Work hours: 24 hours a week as work requirements indicate; Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).


Responsibilities:
80% Provides diagnosis & treatment of common acute illnesses, prevention, and maintenance health care to students with stable chronic illnesses; performs interim physical examinations for healthy students within prescribed guidelines.
5% Provides health education to students about ways to improve, promote and maintain their health status, including but not limited to disease processes, self-care practices, and positive lifestyle choices.
5% Develops clinical apprenticeships and training for students. Maintains adequate records and documentation of care. Maintains competence in clinical practice through continuing education. Maintains confidentiality of student records and health information. Provides health services at and attends designated university functions as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
5% Dispenses prescriptive medications under the direction of supervising pharmacist.

5% Travel to multiple Tarleton Campuses.


Education and Experience:
Successful completion of an accredited educational program for Physician Assistant/Associate; or Successful completion of an approved advanced practice nursing educational program at or beyond the master’s degree level (Master’s degree in Nursing, MSN).

Four years of related experience in a Family Health related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to provide subject matter expertise in the medical field. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Current Texas APRN license; Nurse Practitioner (NP) national certification; Current Texas License to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA); CPR certified
