The UC Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati has been an independent academic unit within the College of Medicine since 1984. It is responsible for the medical direction of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Center for Emergency Care (CEC) and the Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program.

 


The College of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking to fill a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position. This position will provide emergent care in the emergency setting.


Essential Functions
  • Performs a physical exam based upon age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.  
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.  
  • Develops a treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and members of the multidisciplinary care team.  
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by state and University of Cincinnati Medical Center prescriptive authority.  
  • Actively participate in research relative to area of specialty. 
  • Actively develop and participate in providing evidence-based education presentations and other learning activities for diverse disciplines.  
  • Participate in Medical Team Rounds.  
  • Actively involved with Quality Management, data collection and performance improvement initiatives.  
  • Other activities and/or duties assigned to achieve the overall mission of the position within the Department. 

Minimum Requirements, Nurse Practitioner:

Required Education:

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program

 

Required Trainings/Certifications:

Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty

 

Required Experience:

Three (3) years nursing experience
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty

Required Education:

Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

 

Required Trainings/Certifications:

Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

 

Required Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year experience is required
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty
