Job Description
The Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Admissions Systems Operations Manager (ASOM) is responsible for managing and integrating the data flow, integration and dissemination of output of multiple data systems used for GSDM program applications, application and admissions process management, communications, reporting, enrollment management and entering student matriculation preparation. The position collaborates with ADEA (owner of dental school common applications), Liaison International (application systems vendor), BU IS&T, BU Graduate Admissions and other GSDM and University offices; and serves as point person for admissions-related information technology and systems matters, ensuring that GSDM and University records are accurate and that systems-related services for GSDM Admissions operations, applicants, admits and enrollees are fully functional. The ASOM is primary contributor for internal Admissions, School-level, University and national reporting and presentations, including metrics and descriptive holistic reporting for all programs. The ASOM provides process documentation and ongoing training and support to systems users around technical and problem-solving needs, queries and reports, and efficient use of existing and emerging technologies. The ASOM reports to the Director of Admissions, participates as a member of the Admissions team in supporting application processing, customer relations management, Admissions recruitment and enrollment events, and is responsible for additional projects as assigned by the Director and the Assistant Dean of Admissions.
Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or Business Management, or equivalent is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience in a higher education environment or prior experience in university admissions highly desired.
  • Expertise in computer information systems and relational databases is required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is essential.
  • Analytical skills to review and assess statistical information and program reports, related to the graduate admissions programs is essential.
  • Must be able to write clear and comprehensive reports and communicate to both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong foundation in data collection, reporting, and statistical analyses is required.
  • Must be able to problem-solve and introduce solutions effectively and demonstrate the ability to design and improve systems.
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, technically proficient.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work with a wide variety of people is essential.
  • Expertise in information systems; computer science background.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with FileMaker is an asset.
  • Experience in higher education, particularly admissions, is preferred.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a careful listener and able to consider the intent behind the request.
  • Must be able to establish and nurture good working relationships.
  • Must be professional, collaborative, conscientious, timely and results-oriented.
  • Must have sound judgment, exceptional critical thinking skills and be a proactive, strategic problem solver.
  • Must have flexibility and possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Commitment to data integrity, security and confidentiality is crucial.
  • Demonstrated focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
