Summary

Staff Development and Application Review

Manage the training and onboarding of all new recruitment team staff members. Responsible for coordinating annual RT staff development training and coordinating with recruitment management team to ensure that professional development and ongoing training opportunities are provided to the team throughout the recruitment season, and to ensure that staff are cross trained, and the office is best utilizing our resources and skills of our staff. 

National Recruitment and Alumni Relations

Plan, develop, execute and evaluate recruitment and outreach programs to support the University's mission. Assist with preparations for out-of-state recruitment, travel and programs; assess out-of-state college fair participation, high school visitations, and authorized alumni representation. Coordinate admission staff representation for out-of-state efforts. Prepare and track budgets for programs. Analyze and interpret data, reports, and academic work supportive of recruitment programs and goals. Coordinate with schools, colleges, and offices across campus for participation in programs. Monitor enrollment management and trends.

Transfer Initiatives

Plan, develop, execute and evaluate recruitment and outreach programs to support the University's mission. Assist with preparations for transfer recruitment, travel and programs; assess transfer college fair participation, and alumni representation. Coordinate admission staff representation for transfer efforts. Oversee and plan transfer programming. Prepare and track budgets for programs. Analyze and interpret data, reports, and academic work supportive of recruitment programs and goals. Coordinate with schools, colleges, and offices across campus for participation in programs. Monitor enrollment management and trends.

Programming

Planning, development, execution and evaluation of recruitment and outreach programs to support the University's mission. Prepare and track budgets for programs. Analyze and interpret data, reports, and academic work supportive of recruitment programs and goals. Direct the day-to-day operations of recruitment and future planning for program continuation and growth consistent with OUA and University goals. Coordinate with schools, colleges, offices across campus for participation in the programs. Supervise admissions counselors related to recruitment responsibilities and develop future staffing requirements. Monitor enrollment management and trends.

Strategic Outreach

Provide program and recruitment support for strategic outreach efforts. This position will serve as a primary contact for coordination with internal and external partners and assist with program planning and execution. The position will represent the University of Michigan, develop presentations, and facilitate discussions with internal and external constituents, U-M schools, colleges and prospective students.

International Recruitment Initiatives

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) manages U-M's enrollment function to efficiently optimize students' experiences throughout their engagement, from prospect to alumni. The division collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and staff, in support of the university's mission and commitment to academic quality, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

OEM comprises a dedicated team of more than 200 full-time staff members, and up to 400 additional student and temporary staff and is structured in five operational units, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of New Student Programs, the Office of the Registrar, and OEM Administration. OEM strives to provide excellence in access and support to diverse and inspiring learners who will challenge the present and enrich the future.


Responsibilities*

70%     Responsible for the planning, development, execution and evaluation of recruitment and outreach programs to support the University's mission.  Prepare and track budgets for programs.  Direct the day-to-day operations of recruitment and future planning for program continuation and growth consistent with OUA and University goals.  Coordinate with schools, colleges, and offices across campus for participation in the programs.  Develop staffing requirements for recruitment programs and lead admissions counselors related to planning and execution of events.  Oversee enrollment management and monitor trends.  

15%     Build and strengthen relationships with primary feeder schools.  Represent the University of Michigan at recruitment fairs and alumni functions.  Support the University's mission of building an academically excellent and diverse educational community.  Coordinate visitation and travel to high volume/high yielding high schools and community colleges within designated territories.  Exercise significant discretion and independent judgment in developing and modifying travel schedules during the admissions year to meet the University's admissions goals. Advise students on admissions preparation, educational opportunities, and academic requirements at the University of Michigan.  Meet with students, parents, and school officials in large groups or individually.  Interpret University admissions policies and procedures.  Provide assistance and answer questions regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, and student life either in person, via phone or via email.  Provide liaison services to other University offices including financial aid, housing, orientation, or specific school and colleges. Develop and give presentations. Work with the recruitment communications and marketing team to create publications and materials, and coordinate communications in support of program objectives.  Gather formal feedback from admissions counselors and assist the management staff on making recruitment decisions.  

15%     Evaluate applications holistically for domestic and international freshman and transfer students using the University's individualized, holistic, and comprehensive application evaluation guidelines.  Recommend appropriate admissions actions in a timely manner.  Work with the processing team to support the process and document flow.  Make consistent recommendations abiding by university and specific school/college guidelines.  Conduct extensive communication with students, parents, and secondary school officials by explaining admissions decisions, including rejections.  Serve as the primary admissions and enrollment management liaison for academic units.  

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Direction is received from the Admissions Associate Directors and/or the Admissions Assistant Directors.  


Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Two plus years of experience related to admissions and recruitment, specifically in higher education. 
  • Experience in the development and implementation of high attendance/high profile recruitment programs with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines. 
  • Experience in meeting, planning, publications development, program budgets, and project reporting. 
  • Experience in guidance, counseling and/or educational administration and knowledge of various recruiting principles. 
  • Strong oral, written communication and proofreading skills. 
  • Proven ability to make independent decisions. 
  • Familiarity with application review guidelines.

The Office of Enrollment Management requires a hybrid work arrangement of minimally three days on-site and two remote days. Thursdays are required as an on-site workday for all.
