Description of Work Unit
The Office of Admissions, located in the Division of Enrollment and Access, is tasked with enrolling an incoming student body consistent with the mission and vision of access, research, teaching, service, and engagement at Colorado State University. Admissions is responsible for coordinating the enrollment efforts across the university related to inclusive recruitment and counseling, marketing, application, strategy, and technical support functions for most prospective students.
With over 50 full-time staff and an additional 60 student employees, duties range from marketing and communication, prospective student events, application processing, enrollment strategy, recruitment and outreach, customer service, systems support and data analytics. Our office approaches its work through a lens of inclusivity and hopes to hire qualified staff who share this commitment to higher education access.

Position Summary
This position supports Admissions’ recruitment efforts through managing in-state and out-of-state recruitment territories; conducting information sessions; representing Admissions at recruiting and outreach events in-state and out-of-state; counseling prospective students; and reviewing applications for admission. This is a temporary, nine-month position starting August 29, 2022 and ending no later than May 19, 2023. It may require 6-10 weeks of travel and some evening/weekend commitments. The majority of work will be performed on campus or on the road but there may be some opportunities to work remotely.
Position Minimum Qualifications
  • A completed bachelor’s degree
  • One year of demonstrated leadership and or experience working with high school or college students (experience may be gained while working as a college student.)
  • Personal or professional interest in social justice or diversity, equity, and inclusion as demonstrated by participation in relevant trainings, persistent effort, or active planning.
  • Able to work irregular work hours, including nights and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license prior to application date

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience giving presentations to groups of various sizes
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Previous professional admissions or college counseling experience
  • A strong understanding of the Land Grant Mission of Colorado State University
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish

Essential Job Duties

Duty/Responsibility
  • Manage a Colorado and out-of-state recruitment territory.
  • Participate in year-round recruitment travel (approximately 6-10 weeks), representing CSU at events such as high school or community college visits, college fairs, one-on-one appointments, information sessions, or other recruitment events. This may mean irregular work hours, including nights and weekends. Must maintain a valid driver’s license or access to a licensed driver. Travel may be done in assigned territories or where needed by the office.
  • Conduct a variety of presentations—both in-person and online—to prospective students and their families about Colorado State University. This could range from 100-150 presentations per year.
