Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Admissions Officer for the Undergraduate Admissions Department. The Admissions Officer reports to the Assistant Director overseeing the Admissions Center and all customer service provided within, including phone calls, case management, chat and virtual appointments.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides front-facing customer service for Undergraduate Admissions in New Brunswick and the Campus Programs Team.
  • Serves to engage and enroll undergraduate students who are prepared to thrive, inspired to become active members of the campus community, and who will contribute to the diversity of thought and experiences represented by the institution.
  • Achieves this through the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of a high-achieving, dynamically talented, and diverse student population.
  • Aims to convey through programs, communications, and services, the rigor, spirit, and promise of a Rutgers education to the state, the nation, and the world.
  • Manages all escalated phone calls for the Admissions Center and daily case management.
  • Assists with chat oversight as well as reviewing applications.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of two years of overall professional experience, preferably in admissions.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office.
  • Must demonstrate solid judgment, organizational, planning, coordination, time management, multi-tasking and communication skills.
  • Individual will be motivated and imaginative with the ability to handle considerable and varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment,
  • Must work well independently and on a team.
  • Must represent the university knowledgeably, articulately and enthusiastically with an effective professional demeanor.
  • Automobile drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a higher education setting required with a focus on customer service.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce.
  • Experience working with diverse population of students , staff & faculty.
Equipment Utilized
  • Should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., and have general computer literacy.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to work some nights & weekends.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to receive an updated (bivalent) vaccine dose. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
