Admissions Marketing and Recruitment Specialist

Leads the planning, execution, and analysis of a variety of recruitment efforts designed to connect prospective degree program applicants to appropriate resources to aid in their timely admission.

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Office of Predegree Advising & Admissions at Harvard Extension School, Division of Continuing Education (DCE), the Admissions Marketing and Recruitment Specialist oversees the design, organization, implementation, and assessment of recruitment initiatives. Specifically, the Specialist will:

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate strategies that assist in identifying and retaining specific target groups within a pool of prospective degree candidate applicants
  • Design, direct, and measure the effectiveness of communication plans, services, and activities to address potential barriers to admission for these groups
  • Gather, present, and revise useful data and other information relevant to the undergraduate and graduate degree programs for the consideration of students, program directors, and the Dean of Academic Programs
  • Manage and maintain several Office of Predegree Advising & Admissions websites and monitor site traffic using common analytic tools
  • Monitor trends and conditions affecting the marketability of college and continuing education programs to inform communication and recruitment initiatives
  • Develop and employ tools for evaluating and reporting on recruitment efforts
  • Develop and maintain various databases; produce a variety of related reports
  • Serve as liaison to and work collaboratively with other DCE departments in the development and implementation of coordinated marketing, recruitment, and retention efforts that showcase the degree programs, including their students, faculty, and alumni
  • Perform related duties as assigned

The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities serving about 30,000 students annually. The Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement allow Harvard to serve the learning needs of students across their life. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 17,000 students per year in approximately 46 graduate and undergraduate liberal arts and professional fields. More than 1,500 open enrollment courses are offered year-round with over 600 available online are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 450 courses on the Harvard Campus to 11,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering 80 short noncredit courses to almost 4,000 learners annually.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three years of work experience in marketing, advertising, or business communications. A bachelor's degree in one of these fields or a related area may count toward experience.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, collaborate with larger teams, and work independently with little supervision
  • Strong skills in writing, project management, research, record keeping, statistical reporting, data analysis, and oral presentation
  • Advertising and marketing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in XHTML, CSS, web standards including accessibility and usability, Photoshop, Adobe, MS Office, Canvas; Banner, Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Open Scholar; social media channels and other digital tools preferred
