Job Description:

The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a full-time Admissions Counselor to play a key role in supporting the institution's enrollment goals. The primary responsibilities of this position include representing SUNY Poly to prospective students at college fairs, high school visits, community colleges, and school counselor programs; reviewing admissions applications; and interacting with students and families in various formats (in-person, virtually, email, etc.) to provide guidance and detailed information regarding admissions requirements, the application process, academic programs, residential life, financial aid, and all areas of the enrollment process.  In addition, this position oversees the full enrollment process for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).  Some evening and weekend hours, as well as substantial travel throughout New York and the surrounding states is required.

  • Review and render decisions on first-year and transfer applications for admission.  Coordinate and execute the full enrollment process for first-year and transfer Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) applicants from the point of inquiry to enrollment to include the development of recruitment initiatives, marketing strategies, and targeted communication.
  • Visit key high schools and community colleges to meet in-person with prospective students and counselors; participate in college fairs, transfer days and other relevant recruitment events. Provide detailed information on SUNY Poly's academic programs, residential life, student life, and financial aid programs during these interactions.
  • Meet with prospective students and their families, both on and off campus, virtual and in-person, in both group settings and one-on-one appointments.
  • Act as a liaison to designated academic departments and special groups and provide support when needed.
  • Provide support and assistance with events held at the SUNY Global Center in NYC and the annual NYC Accepted Student Bus Trip.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: $45,000 - $48,000

Requirements:

Reporting Relationships

  • This position will report to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • One to two years of professional experience in higher education or a related field
  • The ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage a variety of projects and responsibilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous admissions experience
  • Knowledge of SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
  • Experience working with a CRM system (preferably Slate)
  • Experience with a student information system  and reporting tool (preferably Banner and Argos)
  • Master's degree
