Position Description

This position will visit high schools, participate in college fairs, advice and counsel prospective students and families; review and adjudicate undergraduate applications for admissions; participate in outreach programs designed to expand the base of students interested in U of L; uphold membership in local and affiliate admission organizations, and plan outreach programs for prospective students throughout the assigned region. Must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, presentation and public speaking skills are essential, basic technology capabilities, and must be able to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks and work independently in remote location without daily supervision. It is critical to be able to work collaboratively with alumni, affiliate organizations, academic units, and develop new relationships with high school counselors and community college staff. Position will require travel, weekend and evening work. Must live in assigned geographic region and work from home office

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and Manage outreach and recruitment efforts/initiatives for prospective students and families in assigned geographical area through college fairs, high school visits, community college visits and engagement in high school and community-based organizations in area.
  • Advise, counsel and inform prospective students, parents, and others seeking information about U of L with particular promotion of regional scholarships.
  • Plan and facilitate off-campus programs, designed to introduce prospective students to the campus and other facets of the University.
  • Participate in on campus events for prospective students and families from targeted geographic areas and larger overall freshmen recruitment and yield events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors and community college staff in targeted geographic area including regular visits, communications, and arranging visits to U of L campus.
  • Uphold or develop membership in local and affiliate admission organizations.
  • Execute yield activities with admitted students from targeted geographic region.
  • Review and make decisions related to new student admissions applications.
  • Connect with area U of L alumni in targeted area for development of relationships, referrals for prospective students and possible hosting of events. Also, work with appropriate Alumni and Annual Giving staff to coordinate these activities and relationships.
  • Participate in regular meetings and communications with Belknap campus Office of Admissions staff including reporting weekly activities.
  • Travel to Belknap campus for training, meetings, and yield events periodically.
  • Must have the ability to work from home office.
  • Coordinate and collaborate outreach activities in targeted areas with academic units especially Speed and Music.
