Admissions Counselor - PSEO

We anticipate closing this position to new applicants on April 10th. 

 

Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, and recruits an increasing number of new students to the university’s Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) Program.



  • Provide individualized one-to-one recruitment through relationship development and communication w/ students interested in enrolling for our fall and spring semester start.
  • Meet individually with students and families who have an interest in the PSEO program.  Strategically recruit in-state students from partner high schools and home-school groups with the goal of enrolling the highest quality PSEO class.
  • Collaborate with other offices serving the PSEO students (Early College Advising, PSEO Engagement Specialist, Early College Core Team etc.)  to establish cohesive communication and efficiency of processes.
  • Complete administrative work and documentation of ongoing status of prospective students which includes: documenting all incoming and outgoing communication, detailing personal communication plans, and recording admissions process toward enrollment within the university database.
  • Responsible for oversight and development of all aspects of strategic planning for PSEO recruitment.
  • Provide mass Communication to prospective students within market segment.
  • Build relationships with alumni, coaches, athletic directors, ministry leaders, education and guidance staff, and other community leaders for the purpose of building the Bethel brand within targeted communities.
  • Reading and evaluating applications for admission.
  • Participate in Admissions related events. This includes but is not limited to on campus recruiting events, school visits, college fairs, etc.


  • Candidates must possess effective organization and communication skills and show attention to detail.
  • Candidates must show proven ability to work with multiple tasks and projects well.
  • Strong decision making and ability to guide clients through their decision making is essential.
  • The successful candidate will have knowledge of Bethel University, particularly as it relates to the college’s mission as a Christian college and the ability to clearly present the benefits of Christian liberal arts education.  
  • Individual should have strong skills in both written and oral communication, and the ability to motivate and understand the needs of prospective students.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a professional and confidential manner is necessary.
  • Ability to work with students and families of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds assisting them with the admissions process.
  • Ability to facilitate varied groups of individuals and multiple projects.


Required Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in public relations or sales.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in public relations or sales.
  • Previous experience in an educational organization.
  • Experience managing and developing a team.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A degree from Bethel University or another Christian college.


  • Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record. 
  • Lifting and physical activity are a regular part of the position requirements.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the year – 15-20%.

  • Must be willing to work non-routine hours as needed during certain times of the year.
