Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted. Grade ND1

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present SPHIS in a positive way to diverse populations. Ability to represent the admissions profession positively through a strong, student-centered ethic.
  • Exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions.
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products. 
Position Description

The Admissions Counselor represents SPHIS to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students to meet enrollment management plan.

  • Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the School. One-on-one admissions counseling to diverse populations is an important responsibility of this position. Admissions counseling occurs primarily by phone calls and emails.
  • Utilize phone, email, and mail to communicate with prospective students and applicants in a timely manner, providing superior student service and fostering relationships.
  • Manage centralized application services (SOPHAS) and (HAMPCAS) along with university application portal.
  • Utilize the University CRM (customer relationship management) software for functions associated with graduate admissions.
  • Review prospective student applications for admission.
  • Follow-up with different modes of communication to students to verify any application issues, including discrepancies or missing information.
  • Coordinate applicant approval process with SPHIS departments. 
  • Work collaboratively with graduate admissions in processing admissions approvals and concentration designations.
  • Work collaboratively with the SPHIS recruiter to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communication, and outreach to schools, businesses and organizations.  
  • Complete weekly admissions report.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
