OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement.

We're currently looking for a new team member in our Tulsa office to serve as an Admissions Counselor for our OU Polytechnic Institute.

This Admissions Counselor will work with the OU Office of Admissions Recruitment and the OUPI team to recruit and admit students into the exciting, new OU Polytechnic Institute in Tulsa.

Regular job duties include:

  • Building and fostering relationships with prospective transfer students and applicants, university team members, school counselors and advisors, alumni and other stakeholders
  • Planning and executing events; using our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) communication system in data strategy and planning
  • Serves as a resource to guide prospective students about the admissions process and will facilitate and coordinate related application processes of the college; schedules admissions committee meetings and prepares related documentation
  • Making transfer and readmit application decisions
  • Conducting informational presentations about OU to various audiences
  • Other duties as assigned.

***This position will have an office on the OU-Tulsa campus and may work in a hybrid remote format after successfully completing initial training. The individual must live in the Tulsa area. ***

 

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor's degree.

  • 12 months of related experience

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the bachelor’s degree for a total of 60 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
  • Some travel required for recruiting
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Customer service skills

Certifications:

  • A valid driver’s license is required to get to various schools and events.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry.  Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Environmental: Standard office environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel.  Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.  Requires contact with other departments and university officials. Willingness to work extended and weekend hours during peak periods. 

Departmental Preferences:

  • Knowledge of OU
  • Preference given to someone who has strong ability in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Previous experience working in Admissions and Recruitment is strongly preferred
