Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Admissions Counselor is pivotal in recruiting and engaging prospective students to join Eastern Kentucky University. This position combines technology-driven approaches with traditional relationship-building techniques to ensure a seamless and personalized admissions experience. The counselor will leverage Slate CRM, manage assigned territories, foster relationships with prospective students, families, and target schools, and be a passionate university representative.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Master's preferred.
Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Licensure & Certifications: Valid state driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in admissions, student recruitment, or a related field preferred.
Proficiency in leveraging CRM systems, particularly Slate CRM, is a significant advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to connect with diverse audiences effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for recruitment events.
Senior status (Grade 45) will be granted either with a master’s degree upon hire date, completion of master’s degree post-hire date, or after completing two years of meeting performance goals.
Job Duties:
- 40% - CRM System Utilization & Data Management Harness the power of Slate CRM to streamline and optimize the admissions process. Use data and analytics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Engage with prospective students through multiple digital platforms, including email, social media, and video conferencing. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all interactions in the CRM system. - (Essential)
- 30% - Recruitment & Territory Management Manage a designated geographic territory to identify and cultivate prospective students. Plan and execute recruitment events, both virtual and in-person, to showcase the university's offerings to prospective students. Collaborate with high schools, community colleges, and educational organizations within the assigned territory to build strong partnerships. Travel within the assigned territory to meet prospective students and participate in recruitment activities in primary, secondary, and tertiary markets. - (Essential)
- 20% - Relationship Building Build genuine and meaningful relationships with prospective students and their families. Serve as a point of contact throughout the admissions process, addressing inquiries and providing personalized guidance. Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with prospective students to understand their academic and career goals, ensuring a tailored approach to their admissions journey. Collaborate with academic advisors and faculty members to address specific program-related questions from prospective students. - (Essential)
- 10% - University Representation Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the university, showcasing its unique attributes and academic excellence. Represent the university at college fairs, information sessions, and virtual events. Completing other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
