The University of Tennessee Southern is seeking an Admissions Counselor to assist the Office of Admissions with growing undergraduate student enrollment. The Admissions Counselor is part of the Office of Admissions at UT Southern and is a key contributor responsible for assisting in the efforts to recruit, evaluate the applications of, and select new members of the undergraduate student body of the university. This position will interact extensively with prospective students and applicants and may exercise independent judgment in contributing to admissions decisions. The position is vital to ensuring end-to-end success of the recruitment funnel and students as they progress through that funnel. This position will report directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions & Prospective Student Services 

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Contribute to the achievement of University enrollment and recruitment goals and objectives.
  • Recruit undergraduate students to UT Southern through college fairs, group presentations, personal interviews, campus tours, phone contacts, and written correspondence.
  • Review application materials in an accurate and timely manner
  • Meet with or present information sessions to prospective students and applicants as assigned.
  • Participate in the Admissions Committee as required.
  • Travel for recruitment purposes, including participation in forums, high school visits, college fairs, and career day programs as assigned.
  • Assist with developing recruitment plans for meeting enrollment goals.
  • Assist with programs designed to impact recruitment/yield efforts.
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.
  • Assist with meeting enrollment, recruitment, and student service objectives of the University by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Contributes in measurable ways to the mission of UT Southern and fully embrace the systemwide Be One UT” Values
 



Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in an admission office
