POSITION DETAILS

The Admissions Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinate processing of graduate applications to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate with academic departments and deans regarding decision on graduate applications.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of all graduate program offerings. Communicate this information to prospective applicants highlighting Hunter???s offerings, affordability, admission requirements, and enrollment process.
  • Assist applicants, recommenders, and graduate advisors with the graduate applications system.
  • Participate in graduate recruitment events and activities on campus and off campus to help meet enrollment goals. Develop relationships with key stakeholders to enhance prospective student pipelines.
  • Review and evaluate applications for New York State residency for new/incoming graduate students.
  • Maintain an understanding of the graduate admissions landscape. This includes local and national trends and best practices. Participate in professional organizations such as: NACAC and NAGAP.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor???s degree required.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of admissions experience or in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic database management.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly to both small and large groups.
  • This position will require occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices.

  • Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students
  • Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed
  • Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large
  • Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials
  • Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed
  • Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience $44,411-$49,960.
