Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the comprehensive review of undergraduate and graduate applications. This position will examine and determine residency of applicants. When admission policies and regulations are not immediately applicable, this position will be expected to make decisions necessary to process the applications and work with the Director/Associate Director/Assistant Director of Admissions when needed. In addition to the duties already listed, this position will maintain admission records, create and generate admissions correspondence, and work with the admissions business processes of the student information system and document
management system. It is expected this individual is knowledgeable of the application processing for all admit types to assist other Application Review Specialist positions at various times of the year based upon work load. Normal office working hours for this position are 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. All responsibilities shall be executed while demonstrating a commitment to Inclusive Excellence.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma and 3 years of administrative office work experience (Associate or Bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience).
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic calendaring and email.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to determine a variety of math computations (i.e. class rank, grade point average).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned Associate and/or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Work experience in higher education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of student information and document management systems.
  • Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information.
  • Possess attention to details and time lines/due dates despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, work independently and to independently set priorities to meet demands of the position.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures and protocols of an administrative office.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task when necessary.
  • Ability to meet and work effectively with people across multiple levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain and enhance professional competencies by participating in professional development workshops, seminars and training sessions, related to current position responsibilities.

Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit
The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL. We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes a number of departments: Admissions and Recruitment, Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.
