Description of Duties:

The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a full-time Admissions Advisor/Transfer Admissions Specialist to play a key role in supporting the institution's undergraduate transfer enrollment goals. This position will work as part of an admission team responsible for the recruitment and admission of all undergraduate students to SUNY Poly. The Admissions Advisor/Transfer Admissions Specialist will be involved in a range of on and off campus recruitment activities including community college visits, special events, counselor meetings and applicant interviews. They will predominantly be responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of transfer applicants. The Transfer Admissions Specialist will play an integral role in developing, planning, and implementing strategic initiatives (recruitment, marketing, and communication) for transfer enrollment. In addition, this position will be responsible for traditional admissions counselor duties including participation in college fairs and high school visits and application review of first-year applicants.

  • Serves as primary source of information for transfer students with regard to the entire transfer application process to include rendering admissions decisions throughout the fall and spring application cycles, and communication with transfer applicants regarding the status of their application and required materials. 
  • Serve as point of contact for the new transfer student advisement process in slate. Manage and organize advisement schedule and appointments for opted in faculty and students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Marketing Coordinator to establish a transfer recruitment and enrollment plan (to include marketing and communication via the Slate CRM); Discuss and evaluate the plan on a weekly basis to better serve the transfer population and maximize transfer enrollment opportunities.
  • Interview prospective transfer and first-year students and maintain regular follow up with recruits and applicants throughout the enrollment cycle using the Slate CRM
  • Recruitment travel to include individual visits to two-year college, participate in transfer fairs, counselor programs and parent nights throughout NYS as assigned. Participate in first-year/freshmen recruitment events and high school visits as needed.
  • Work closely and assist the Transfer Articulation Coordinator, SUNY Poly deans and program coordinators as well as key colleagues at two-year institutions to create and update transfer pathways including articulation agreements and dual admission programs.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned. 

Salary Range: $52,000- $55,000

The primary location for this position is in Utica, with possible travel to other operating locations


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • The ability to manage a variety of projects and responsibilities
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Previous University admissions experience or related experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of SUNY Polytechnic Institute
  • Experience working with a CRM system (preferably Slate)
  • Experience working with a student information system (preferably Banner)
