Job Description Summary:
The Admission Specialist reports to the Process Improvement Manager of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management. The position contributes to a collaborative department through professional and personal interactions with students and constituents and through positive and consistently accurate support of various departmental responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Education:   Bachelor's Degree. A combination of education and relevant work experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis.

Work Experience:

  • Administrative support experience.

  • Customer service experience including telephone and in-person interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience working in higher education a plus.

  • Experience working with the SLATE Application System

  • Experience in handling and maintaining confidential information.

Skills:

  • Strong Organizational and interpersonal communication skills

  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy

  • A self-starter who can take initiative, begin projects on their own, and work with little to no supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, including mail-merges, advance layout functions (columns and tables), sorting, filtering, and basic formula functions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to respond quickly to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes. 

Job Duties:

  • Manage application and admission processes for all School of Nursing undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree programs.

  • Responsible for processing application completion, preparing correspondence to applicants and admitted students include assuring: updating applicant tracking spreadsheets, processing incoming transcripts, and reviewing applications (when needed to support program consultants).

  • Assist with event preparation, including student orientations and the annual recognition ceremony.

  • Administratively supports the Student Admission and Progression Committee meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
