JOB SUMMARY

The Temporary Admission and Athletic Recruitment Assistant supports recruiting and admission activities, with a primary focus of working with an assigned athletic recruits. This person will counsel students on the admission process; assist in the daily admission activities for Hamline University; and work with individuals and groups to achieve the University’s strategic undergraduate enrollment goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Serves as a member of the admission team supporting both general and athletic recruitment initiatives.

● Works on special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the office, including an athletic recruitment event.

● Meets with athletic recruits during their campus visits.

● Works with community and alumni organizations that assist with the recruitment of students.

● Provides admission materials and information to campus visitors and at on campus and off campus events.

● Advises students and families of admission requirements, transfer guidelines, financial aid and scholarship information, and residence life, etc.

● Provides follow up to students and parents via phone, letters, email, and scheduled appointments.

● Works with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases and communication planning.

● Assists colleagues as needed and contributes to the team spirit and goals.

● All other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the: Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

This position does not supervise other employees.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the following budget: n/a Budget Range: This position is not responsible for the management of a budget.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES

● Creative problem solver.

● Understand the benefits of a liberal arts education within a private educational institution.

● Demonstrated skills in: Writing, speaking, networking, and presentations.

● Working knowledge of marketing concepts, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases and communication planning.

● Ability and willingness to work with a diverse population of students. Professional demeanor.

● Strong strategic thinking skills and a sense of humor are beneficial.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPECTATIONS

● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

● Reliable transportation to recruiting events.

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT

Must be able to perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

● Ability to lift at least 25 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without accommodations

● Ability to work on a computer for long periods of time

● Ability to travel to on and off campus locations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

● This is a temporary and part-time position (25 hours/week).

● Evening and weekend work is required.
