Position Summary

POSTING FOR UNMC EMPLOYEES ONLY

Responsible for the Cardiac Anesthesiology Division’s fiscal and administrative oversight, and accountable to the Anesthesiology Chair, Department Administrator, and respective Division Chiefs for adherence to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine policies & procedures. Coordinate and administer Division’s business affairs, manage its non-faculty personnel, and work with Nebraska Medicine regarding Division’s finances, clinical billing, and collection activities. Work with multiple partner organizations (UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, VA, etc.) to accomplish the educational, research and clinical goals of the Department and Division. Collaborate with the Cardiac Division Chief on long-range planning and business development. Responsible for creation and administration of annual employment contracts and Division operating budgets with each employing entity (UNMC, NE Medicine).

Advanced proficiency in analytic reasoning and strategic planning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes.

Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the business unit/college

Ability to assess risk and problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the business unit/college and UNMC as a whole.

Understanding of human resource administration and related regulatory environment.

Exhibits a style of participatory leadership and fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding: conflict management, supervision, mentoring, and team building.

Working knowledge of related technological resources/software to include enterprise systems and the MS Office suite.

Ability to counsel superiors regarding required alternative courses of action.
