Responsibilities
- Manage logistics of more than 300 departmental quarterly course offerings annually, including working with the registrar to find rooms for classes and discussion sections.
- Collaborates with members of the undergraduate committee on program curriculum changes including the creation and implementation of new tracks and specializations.
- Creates processes to improve program support and get faculty feedback on the program.
- Manage the recruitment and hiring process for more than 300 course assistants in undergraduate courses, including reviewing applications, making appropriate assignments, employment offers, onboarding, and supervision of requests for tutoring support.
- Manage the appointment process of graduate student lecturers and assistant instructional professors.
- Manage and report on quarterly evaluations for faculty and graduate students.
- Create content for the Undergraduate section of the Department of Mathematics website and maintains/updates content (curriculum, degree requirements as changes are implement) including internal current student resource portal.
- Create, revise and evaluate formal processes for various student requests. This includes requests for expense reimbursement, tutor support and feedback about job/internship placements to name a few.
- Collaborate with Sr. Inst. Professors regarding the planning and implementation of outreach programs (YSP, SESAME, Polk Bros.) marketing activities, including the development of publications, registration and managing the associated websites.
- Responsible for financial expense reporting, manage undergraduate committee budgets and reimbursement processes.
- Meet with a growing caseload (approximately 360 math majors) and advise on classes, registration, degree requirements, resources, as well as completion of academic forms and visa requirements from the Office of International Affairs and external funding organizations.
- Serves as a resource to instructors to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Document and communicate quarterly registration activities, processes, and deadlines to students and instructors.
- Responsible for administrative aspects of undergraduate courses, to include organizing teaching meetings during orientation week, ensuring classes, instructors and course assistants are appropriately listed each quarter in registrar’s databases. Develop relationships with publishers, UofC Bookstore and library to ensure textbook availability for instructors and students.
- Develop and enhance strong relationships with mathematics majors and continuing those relationships after graduation. Maintain records regarding future plans and follow their careers.
- Organizes the Undergraduate Committee meetings.
- Collaborates with internal and external professionals to create new programs and enhance existing ones. This job is also responsible for evaluating the program curriculum, policies, and procedures.
- Typically review work of and serve as a resource to program support staff and program instructors.
- Performs other related work as needed.
