OU Health Services is the ambulatory care facility on the Norman campus providing primary care services to students, faculty, staff and dependents of all ages. We provide in-house medical laboratory and x-ray services, have a physical therapy department and full-service pharmacy. 

 

The Medical Records Department at OU Health Services/Goddard is dedicated to providing prompt and secure services to our patients, clinics, and the surrounding community. You will be responsible for answering incoming calls to the department, copying and sending medical records, as well as importing documents into the electronic medical record system. To be successful in this position you'll need to be able to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals across various medical departments and facilities.

 

Essential Duties: Performs administrative support-oriented job duties; resolves a variety of support-related questions and problems; performs duties such as file maintenance, managing inventory, typing, preparing reports, conducting correspondence, distributing information and managing office procedures; performs non-routine support duties.

Under direct supervision, performs entry-level administrative support-oriented job duties, to include but not limited to resolving routine questions and problems, filing maintenance, typing, report preparation, and correspondence.  Job duties are clearly defined using standard methods and routines to accomplish tasks. Maintains office files that may be of a confidential nature. Receives incoming calls and refers to appropriate person or responds to caller with routine information. Provides information regarding location or availability of materials, resources and services. Monitors and orders supplies for the office.  Responsible for typing correspondence and medical information.  Makes copies and assembles materials for medical record requests.  Opens, routes, and prepares incoming and outgoing mail. Performs related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


 

 

 

 

 

    
 

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND: 

  • 6-12 months office, clerical or administrative support experience.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of office procedures      
  • General office and customer service skills      
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)     
  • Excellent interpersonal skills     
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player     
  • Ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner      
  • Must be detail oriented for accuracy of data and information     
  • Ability to multitask, be organized, and self-motivated      
  • Ability to work in stressful situations      
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Advertised Physical Requirements:

Physical: Sit for prolonged periods.  Communicate effectively and listens.  Engage in repetitive motion.  Use of computer and telephone.  Stand, stoop, bend, and reach.

Department Preferences:

  • Medical Records experience in an outpatient facility.

Supervision: No supervisory duties.
