Position Summary Information

Department Description

This position is located in the Office of Commercialization and Economic Development (OCED) which is located in the Division of The Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. OCED manages the University’s intellectual property including patenting marketing and negotiating licenses for the commercialization of University owned inventions.

Position Description

Patent Assistant will assist the Patent Manager and commercialization team in electronic filing of patent records. Duties include filing electronic communications (in database), updating file status, recording deadlines, communicating with other team members, and auditing records to ensure accuracy. Outcomes measured by accuracy of database and engagement with team members.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

The ideal candidate should have data management and document management experience as well as great attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the patent filing documentation is preferred, but not required.
