Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University is seeking an Administrative Support Associate to provide administrative  and general clerical support.
Effective January 1, 2022, Auburn University will offer a minimum hiring rate of $14.50 to all administrative professionals, full-time staff,  and eligible part-time employees. 
Essential Functions
Responsible for a variety of office and project support duties and tasks, which may include but are not limited to the following: Assisting graduate and undergraduate students with registration, including identifying and helping to clear holds, course equivalency for transfer students, course substitutions, and departmental approvals for directed studies courses;  gathering and management of data; inter- and intradepartmental correspondence; coordinating and maintaining department calendar, room reservations, and course building; filing/placing work orders; coordinating/scheduling departmental events (e.g., banquets, awards ceremonies, etc.); assisting with travel arrangements for guest speakers, interview candidates, and prospective graduate students; coordinating with the GPO and Graduate Admissions Committee Chair to receive, organize, and maintain records/documents for graduate program applicants, assist in communication with applicants, coordinate admissions activities with the Graduate School (i.e., via Apply Yourself); assisting Graduate Recruiting Chair and GPO in scheduling/coordinating events for graduate recruiting and new graduate student orientation, respectively; distributing departmental mail, answering phones and greeting students and visitors. In addition, this individual advises faculty, staff and students of standard policies and procedures. Acts as a point of contact for purchasing or vendor agencies. May perform some administrative duties which may include, but are not limited to human resources administration, preparation of reports or events. Duties also include scheduling classrooms, entering course information into AU student scheduling system, maintaining grades/registration, including for Camps War Eagle throughout each Summer. Responsible for managing and ordering office supplies.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of office rules, procedures and operations are required. Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated technical excellence, proficiency in Microsoft Office, an ability to evaluate problems and troubleshoot solutions, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals and be sensitive to cultural diversity.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business or related field; thorough experience in administrative support; strong experience/knowledge with AU Banner system (HR, Finance, Academic Records, and AU ASTRA); knowledge of principles for human resources; and academic advising (with a thorough working knowledge of FERPA regulations).
