Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Campus Recreation and Wellness (CRW) at East Carolina University engages the Pirate Community in diverse recreational and wellness experiences by providing exceptional facilities, programs, and services. CRW manages four flagship facilities, including two indoor and two outdoor locations. Indoor facilities include the Eakin Student Recreation Center, a state of the art 150,000 square foot facility located on ECU’s main campus, and a 30,000-square-foot recreation and wellness center inside the 76,000-square-foot student center ECU’s Health Sciences Campus. The North Recreational Complex, a 129-acre sports complex that includes eight sports fields, a six-acre lake, disc golf course, boathouse, walking/jogging trails, outdoor fitness equipment, sandy beach area, beach volleyball courts, and an Odyssey challenge course and the 18-acre Blount Recreational Sports Complex round out the outdoor facilities.

The University
East Carolina University, or ECU as it’s best known, offers more than 85 bachelor’s, 72 master’s and 19 doctoral degrees to nearly 29,000 students on its Greenville, North Carolina, campus and through an acclaimed online learning program. The university’s school of medicine is recognized nationally for producing primary care physicians, cardiovascular research, advanced robotic surgery as well as obesity and diabetes breakthroughs. ECU also boasts the largest business school enrollment and largest number of new nurses and education professionals produced by a four-year North Carolina university, in addition to the largest studio art program in the state. Located near Atlantic coast harbors where pirates once roamed, ECU adopted the “Pirates” mascot in 1934 for its athletics program and competes in NCAA Division 1. Job Duties
Purpose of the Position:
Temporary Administrative Associates will support Campus Recreation & Wellness by filling various critical roles, including:
  • Customer Service Attendants
  • Adventure/Team Training Assistants
  • Sports Program Supervisors
  • Intramural Officials and Scorekeepers
  • Fitness Attendants
  • Lifeguards/Swim Instructors
  • Well Being Associates
  • Recreation Technicians
  • Facility Managers

These temporary employees are essential to ensure CRW can effectively manage and meet the operational needs of its four major programs, providing vital support to the campus community. Without these roles filled, the department will face challenges in sustaining program demands and delivering essential services.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
