Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The University Cashier’s Office serves as the central collection center for student accounts receivable and for receipting of State funds through departmental deposit. The primary purpose of this office is the billing, receiving, depositing, disbursing, accounting and the financial record keeping of student tuition, fees and related charges as well as other State funds deposited and in the custody of the office and finally safeguarding these funds until deposited with the State Treasurer and/or a designated commercial bank.
Job Duties
Cashier responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Receive and accurately key payments (cash, check, and debit card) for student accounts and Third Party payments.
  • Review and process Faculty/Staff Tuition and Fee Waivers.
  • Open, sort, proof (for accuracy) and process (including data entry in Banner Student A/R module) payments received by mail.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, staff, faculty, and any others that interact with the Cashier’s Office.
  • Release student account information in accordance with FERPA (Family Education Rights to Privacy Act).
  • Sign into the Cisco Finesse phone system daily and assist with Level 2 Cashier calls that require more complex attention and research.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, complete balance sheet, submit deposit to Departmental Cashier, and report any out of balance issues in accordance with University policy.
  • Assist students with questions regarding 3rd party systems such as TouchNet.
  • Assist students with refund and tuition payment plan questions and issues.

This is a “customer service” driven position requiring above average communication skills and professionalism.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
