Job Duties:


Budget Administration 60%
The position will be primarily responsible for the processing and management of all accounts and personnel actions in the Department of Engineering. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: advising the chair on all aspects of the departmental budget and all other accounts that the Department of Engineering has currently or that will be created. These accounts are the state operating budget, department foundation budget, research budget, F&A budget, GCRT budget, the Engineering and Technology Student Fee, and scholarships. Management of accounts will include posting a spreadsheet keeping track of spending and balancing to Banner. This position reviews all grant proposals routed to the department, examining the budget and making sure all elements are appropriate. The position is expected to analyze budget data, identify and resolve problems and create reports for the department chair. The position will make deposits as necessary. This position is the Grants and Contract Support for the department. This will include the oversight of all grants and start-up funds for the department. The position will work with and support the faculty investigators (PIs) to ensure compliance with the grant/contact related ECU polices and external sponsors and procedures.
Personnel Administration 25%
This position will be administratively involved in the hiring process of all faculty and staff for the department. This position has the responsibility for all personnel documents with new hires and contract renewals for EPA faculty that are assigned to the department. This position initiates all non-student EPAFs and insures correct FOAPs are being used. This will include EPAFs for Grants ensuring calculations are accurate before processing. This position serves as an approver for student EPAFs. The position works closely with the dean's office to see that all documentation and processes are correct. The position will be responsible for obtaining all document and reports that are required by the university as noted in the business and faculty manual that are necessary to be in the faculty personnel file. This position will serve as a liaison between the faculty/staff and dean's office. This position is the Pre- Reviewer for the Effort Reporting System. The position has administrative responsibilities relative to all personnel actions and maintaining related files in the department. In addition to maintaining files, the position will be responsible for working with the Chair of the Department, Chair of Search Committees, and Personnel Committee for the hiring process. Upon completion of compiling hiring documents, and checklist, an EPAF will be completed and approved by the Chair.
Travel Administration 5%
While the other SHRA position in the department has primary responsibilities related to travel, this position will serve as an approver for all travel in the department and resource for faculty regarding travel procedures.
Supervision of Admin Support Associate 10%
This position will supervise the Admin Support Associate whose primary responsibilities include: department public liaison/receptionist, travel coordinator, student hiring coordinator, department event scheduler, department database and office supply manager, assistant to the chair, assistant to the Undergraduate and Graduate program administrators.

The Department of Engineering offers an ABET-accredited BS in Engineering with concentrations in Biomedical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. There are currently 25 faculty with a growing undergraduate student population (~ 400 undergraduates) and a graduate (MS) program in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering. The Department of Engineering provides a quality, multidisciplinary engineering education in a collaborative environment that prepares graduates to design innovative solutions to lead regional and global transformation.
