Description:


The position will perform a wide variety of administrative duties, interact with the general public, support specialized programs' operations, serve as liaison for summer food services, maintain updated student database, and maintain budget/expense transactions. The position will support the Assistant Director, Program Counselor and Program Director. The position will compose, mail and monitor correspondence and other records, submit and track requisitions for pay, submit and track travel, reimbursement grant forms, and vehicle request, serve as liaison for Guilford County bus needs, and assist with expense monitoring and reporting. The position will complete other tasks as assigned and attend regularly scheduled meetings.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:


The Upward Bound unit works with low income, first generation, and/or academically at-risk pre-college students from designated high schools. The unit provides academic tutoring, college and career preparation guidance, homework assistance, summer residential programming, college readiness assessments and parental support throughout the year for students in grades rising 9th through 12th.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred:


Prefer individual with Bachelors degree in Education, Social Work, Business, Liberal Studies or related fields with experience working with low income/first generation populations and at least 2 years serving in an Administrative capacity. Individual must have very good organizational skills and be able to work with databases and Microsoft Office products. Good mathematics computation, record keeping capabilities and communication skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal skills.
