Full-Time / $2539 - $2700 / mo.
Under general supervision of the Department Chair, the Administrative Support Assistant provides a full range of general office clerical support to the Department of Deaf Studies and collaborates extensively with the faculty, office staff, peer mentors, and lab assistants to collectively uphold a welcoming and hospitable environment. The incumbent answers, screens, and routes telephone/videophone calls and email messages; greets all visitors to the office; manages the appointment calendar for the Academic Advisement Office; distributes incoming and outgoing mail; regularly checks department voicemail and multiple email accounts; maintains department bulletin board/display cases and MIND Screen announcements; updates department listservs; collects/posts faculty office hours; inventories/orders office supplies, services, and equipment through chargebacks and requisitions; organizes and maintains department cloud-based files; maintains all office and Information Technology (IT) equipment (videophones, copy machine, fax machine, computers, printers, laptops, adapters, cameras); maintains the resource library database and manages the reservation system for equipment and resource materials; assists in coordinating special projects, meetings, and department events; makes all room reservations for classes and special events; serves as the department delegate to assist faculty and staff with eTravel authorizations and claims; processes and files student forms; oversees the department website and coordinates changes/updates with the College of Education webmaster; manages online textbook adoptions; utilizes SOLAR to research student records, print permission numbers and reports, and other Student Assistant and Schedule of Classes tasks as needed; serves as back-up PeopleSoft Timekeeper; and performs other duties as assigned.
Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time, general office clerical work that has provided the applicant with the knowledge and abilities listed. Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for year basis. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; and office methods and basic filing systems procedures and practices. Working knowledge of higher education institutions and general university policies and practices as they pertain to bachelor's degree programs. Ability and specialized skills to: organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks; learn, identify, and independently interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; investigate, analyze, and resolve routing clerical problems; work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; prepare and draft memoranda and correspondence; keep moderately complex records and files; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; operate standard office equipment; and software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The salary range for this classification is: $2539 - $4202 per month.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $2539 - $2700, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
TEMP: This is a Temporary-renewable position; end date to be determined.
This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
