Salary Range : $3,338 - $4,913/Monthly

 

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended, may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

 

Essential Functions : The assistant will support the Director of the Honors College and the operations of the Honors College and Early Entrance Program. The incumbent will provide: general office support; coordinate clerical and administrative operations for the Honors College; supervise and evaluate student assistants; track program expenses; process travel and purchasing; and coordinate special events. Working with the SSP II, the ASA will: assist with scheduling; gather data; maintain an electronic and hard copy filing system; generate and track correspondence; and communicate with a wide range of individuals and programs off campus as well as departments, colleges, and units across campus.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Equivalent to two years of general office experience, which included providing work direction or acting as a lead. General working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices with fluency in using standard office software packages. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to: learn, interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures; identify deviations from applicable policies; apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions; and perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data. Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing. Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
