The Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics (FCREUE) is an internationally renowned research center housed at the Haas School of Business on the University of California, Berkeley campus. The mission of the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics is to educate students and real estate professionals and to support and conduct research on real estate and financial markets, urban economics, sustainability, land use, and public policy.

Responsibilities
This position exists to provide administrative and financial oversight and support for all aspects of FCREUE's philanthropic gift program: Policy Advisory Board (PAB) and serve as the primary administrative liaison for the gift program. This includes the spectrum of services involved in donor solicitation, documentation, processing, new fund creation, donor communications and acknowledgment, as well as activity reports and analysis. The position provides assistance to FCREUE's Chairman in all PAB 'member' (donor) gift related matters. The Board are a group of approximately 230 real estate and finance industry leaders, many of whom are University major gift donors or UCB alumni. Board members contribute to FCREUE over $2.5 million in annual gifts which fund the Fisher Center's research efforts, teaching support and general operations. This role facilitates the consistent flow of gift revenue through active donor stewardship and contact in a high touch environment. As of 2017, the position has incorporated the stewardship and administration of FCREUE's affiliated 501c3 the Berkeley Real Estate Forum (BREF) by acting as its Secretary.

  • Manages, plans and administers a range of administrative operations in a small to medium academic department, or a small to medium non-academic department or program.
  • Administrative operations include budgetary financial management and human resources and may include some of the following functions: IT, facilities, student services, and/or contracts and grants.
  • Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for funding which may be complex.
  • Assists with fundraising related duties and other duties as assigned, such as researching leads and prospects.
  • Performs studies for resource plans, including approaches, trends, sources and uses.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of human resources activities including employment, training, classification, and ensuring the completion of forms and documents related to HR and Payroll for unit/department.
  • Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes financial and HR reports.
  • May supervise a small staff of support employees and/or students.
  • Serves on committees, representing department/unit.
  • Assists in the design and drafting of organizational website content; drafts newsletters and correspondence to organizational constituents, including preparing compiling and producing annual reports.
  • Provides input into non-technical portions of grant and contract proposals.

Required Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of and/or can quickly learn University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge of and/or can quickly learn common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $77,600.00 - $113,500.00.
