Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chair, Operations Manager, and Chief Administrative Officer/Department Administrator of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine, incumbent performs professional, analytical, and administrative support, liaison, and project coordination for eight or more faculty. This position necessitates strong, independent judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Additionally, an in-depth understanding of the department and school goals and activities necessary in order to perform a broad scope of operational analysis and assignments. The position also serves as a liaison between department faculty, medical center, school, campus, and public officials. Uses professional concepts to apply organization policies and procedures to oversee a variety of ongoing administrative operational issues. Administers defined operational program. Analyzes and resolves operational problems of moderate scope.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $30.44 - $48.86 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $30.44 - $48.86 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
  • 1-3 years of administrative experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. 
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing. 
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. 
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. 
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the independent preparation, transcription, complex calendaring, and editing of a wide variety of scientific correspondence. 
  • Ability and familiarization in website updates. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UCI/Hospital/departmental policies, procedures, and program. 
  • Demonstrated ability in the areas of customer service and event planning.
