Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations for Cancer Solid Tumor Practices, the Administrative Director will work independently and have primary responsibility for supervising administrative staff and shared oversight for the medical assistant and nursing staff. The Administrative Director will supervise the operational, human resource, administrative, and business functions of the Gynecologic Surgical Oncology, Sarcoma Medical Oncology, and Orthopedic Surgical Oncology and any satellite and affiliated clinics when those practices provide services at several locations. The Administrative Director will perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients, and providers. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff, and patients in a complex environment. The Administrative Director has daily oversight of the practice's financial operations to ensure compliance with the existing funds flow model and allocation of expenses. The Administrative Director also works regularly with leadership in the Departments of; Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Medicine, Psychiatry, Pathology, Radiology, Infusion Services, Perioperative, Sterile processing, and specific inpatient units where surgery patients are admitted to ensure practice operations are meeting departmental objectives.

Department Description
The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical, and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research, and substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses including regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center of approximately 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost centers, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of relevant experience.
- Three or more years related experience with demonstrated progressive leadership; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Clinic management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology.
- Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate and delegate work functions efficiently.
- Demonstrated managerial skills and human resources management knowledge, including staff deployment, resource utilization, budgeting and financial management, quality improvement, and program planning and implementation.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to convey complex information, instructions, and guidelines in a clear, concise, and specific manner, and to influence and persuade all levels of staff.
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and patient care workflows and processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
- The ability to work in San Francisco when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field
- Lean Certification
- Experience working and managing in an ambulatory care setting
- Experience in an academic medical center setting
- Experience supervising in a union environment
- Experience working in cancer services
