Essential Functions 


A. Ambulatory Strategy

?         In collaboration with the department, develop all patient centered programs and services within Ambulatory Care Services in clinics.

?         Represent Ambulatory Care Services on committees and other activities ensuring collaboration and function as a liaison with appropriate Clinical-enterprise-wide groups.

?         Support Ambulatory Leadership Triad in determining quality and patient care initiatives and improvements that support organizational priorities.


B. Care Delivery

?         Develop strategies to improve transition of care between inpatient, outpatient, and home care.


C. Collaboration with Centralized Support Services

?         Establish priorities, areas of focus, and collaborate with centralized support services.

?         Identify measurable targets for performance improvement support services.

?         Coordinate marketing efforts and initiatives at interdisciplinary program level.

?         Collaborate with IT for required support services at the program level.

?         Works regularly with support services functions to ensure operational goals are met.


D. Space Management

?         Prioritize funding for ambulatory facility improvements, including construction or renovation of structures and purchase of major equipment.


E. Operational and Clinical Management

?         Support Ambulatory Care Clinical Chief (ACCC) and Ambulatory Care Nursing Director (ACND) in approval of care model requirements for each specialty, including roles, responsibilities, and exceptions.

?         Oversee identification of potential revisions to the staffing model based on analysis of visit and productivity data from Ambulatory Group Leadership and Clinic Leadership

?         Develop strategies to improve transition of care between inpatient, outpatient, and home care.

?         Provide oversight for regulatory compliance with CMS, JC, and CLIA, as applicable, operations of supporting functions (including identification of areas for improvement)

?         Support adherence to template and scheduling standards for access.


F. Operation and Financial Performance

?         Monitor operational and financial performance metrics at the interdisciplinary program level.

?         Oversee identification and sharing of operational and financial best practices to faculty and staff.

?         Communicate operational, performance, and financial metrics regularly to providers and staff in the clinics.

?         Identify & share operational and financial best practices to providers and staff.

?         Present on clinic operational, performance, and financial metrics to leadership committees.


G. Financial Planning

?         Oversee interdisciplinary program financial plan for upcoming year.


H. Provider and Staff Performance Management

?         Recruit, select, and evaluation performance of Clinical Administrator and/or clinic Managers.

?         Evaluate performance of Clinical Administrator and/or clinic Managers

?         Support recruitment and selection of Ambulatory Care Clinical Chiefs (ACCCs) and Ambulatory Care Nursing Directors (ACNDs)


I. Core Responsibilities

?         Evaluates supporting function operations, identifying areas for improvement.

?         Perform Administrator on-call duties as assigned.

?         Serves as a key member of the Interdisciplinary Program Oversight Team

?         Works closely with across UM- H leadership to provide leadership for strategic, financial, and operational priorities across the ambulatory enterprise.

?         Directs and leads multiple complex workstreams, including large scale facility, IT, program development, and clinical re-design initiatives.

?         Works collaboratively in a team environment, continually addressing ongoing and new issues, while also exercising appropriate autonomy when needed to meet job requirements.

?         Provides expertise and consultation as it relates to operations effectiveness, patient access, fiscal management, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction.

?         Creates alignment between Michigan Medicine, Ambulatory Care Services, and Department strategies and priorities to facilitate administrative and operations management at a local level.
