What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking an Administrative Director to oversee the successful operation of the Vice President for Student Life (VPSL) Office assuring that high-quality administrative support is provided to the Vice President, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students, Dean of Intercultural Engagement, and the Business Officer, as well as other senior leaders in the Division not officing in the VPSL Office Suite. Additionally, this position will play a key role in gathering data and reporting on key Division of Student Life (DSL) goals and performance indicators that inform cross-divisional decision making, implementation of strategy, and assessment of results. Furthermore, the position will strategically identify opportunities to create connectivity, leverage systems and technology, and implement cross functional solutions to help create innovative pathways for student support, learning, and faith formation. 

A Master’s degree, five years of relevant experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Doctoral degree and seven years of relevant work experience are preferred. 

A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as a key member of the Vice President for Student Life (VPSL) Office contributing to operational effectiveness, planning, budget monitoring, communications, priority staff searches, and the execution of plans to assure achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Collect and use data to create presentations and business cases to persuade, make decisions, develop plans, and execute actions.
  • Work collaboratively to address the educational, spiritual, and operational challenges and opportunities unique to Student Life work within Christian higher education, while making complex ideas or situations clear, simple, and easy to understand.
  • Establish and maintain key partnerships with staff, faculty, and student leaders across campus to solve problems and leverage resources in order to meet goals and objectives. 
  • Learn continuously, champion excellence, and project a passion for innovation and improvement within a student-centered, team-oriented environment.
  • Represent the VPSL Office as appropriate and needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
  • Learn about and comply with university policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
