Department Summary
The Department of Educational Psychology is one of four departments in the College of Education. The Department of Educational Psychology currently offers a BS degree in Human Development and Family Science, a MS in Educational Psychology, a MEd in Special Education, a PhD in Educational Psychology, and a PhD in Special Education.
Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing executive, administrative, and analytical support to a department. Coordinates activities and acts as university-wide liaison. Identifies issues or problems and researches solutions within specific management areas.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.

Job Duties


o

Supervise staff members by training, communicating expectations, taking disciplinary action as needed, and assisting with workload management. This role also responsible for staff hiring, payroll, timekeeping, delegating tasks, and managing leave. Prepare and discuss staff evaluations annually.

o

Prepare, monitor, and maintain entire departmental budget and create monthly budget reports including expenses and balances for Department Chair and Dean’s Office as needed. Follow university policies and proceedures about how funds can be used and assure that accounts are in good standing. Submit Course Fee request annually to the College Budget Officer.

o

Purchase department technology equipment and other office supplies through Pcard or requisition. Complete monthly PCard reports and reconcile for other Pcard holders.

o

Assist Administrative Specialist with maintaining Departmental inventory to State standards through the asset management system. Use appropriate forms and processes for purchasing, equipment checkout, and surplus removals. Complete annual inventory reporting.

o

Work with the Program Project Coordinators to submit departmental scholarship requests and updates.

o

Complete the Annual Space Survey. Assisgn work spaces, arrange and update contact information, and request appropriate access for UNT systems and building for faculty, staff, and graduate students annually and as needed.

o

Create/update payroll authorizations for faculty, staff, and graduate students. Assist with hiring/on boarding and termination/offboarding processes for entire department. Report faculty workload reports annually. Collect transcrips for TFs, Adjuncts, and other facuty as needed for credentialing and SACS reporting. Assist the department chair in maintaining faculty records.

o

Plan and execute of departmental meetings and other events by scheduling conference rooms, purchasing, correspondence, and all other arrangements. Assist with college events as requested that may require work outside of normal office hours.

o

General office management. Assist all faculty, staff, students, and other guests as needed in a timely and professional manner. Work to create a pleasant and efficient work environment. Serve as the the safety coordinator and be the initiator of police, CARE Team, Risk Management, Human Resources, and Dean of Students contact as needed. Ensure that duties are completed in accordance with university policy and proceedures.

o

Attend trainings and seminars for professional development. Records Retention. Other duties as assigned.
