The Administrative Coordinator I, provides administrative support for Chief of Police and Assistant Chiefs in the management and coordination of office support activities within the University Police Department and acts as department quartermaster. Salary Range: $35,568 – $42,868

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of experience in office administration

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment

Other Requirements or Other Factors

  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and hours other than Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Requires lifting and/or moving of heavy weighted objects

  • Physical ability and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities, which require outside working conditions

  • Quartermaster - Acts as department buyer and quartermaster. Monitors compliance with policies and procedures. Is responsible for purchasing, tracking, storing, and assigning all police uniforms and equipment. Creates and maintains a database of uniform and equipment items. Performs special analyses and project summaries.
  • Business Affairs - Reallocates expenses and provides account information and pays invoices with the payment card. Enters requisitions and reconciles accounts.  Applies and interprets, and/or assists in implementing management policies or operating practices.
  • Administrative - Provides administrative support to the Chief and Assistant Chiefs of Police. Participates in the planning and execution of administrative operations. Reviews documents for supervisor. Attends meetings or committees on behalf of supervisor. Assures the confidentiality of mail, correspondence and reports. Provides indirect supervision of student workers. On occasion, serves as the office manager. Assists in resolving complex, highly sensitive and confidential administrative matters. Responds to non-routine information requests. Evaluates and ensures adherence to office procedures. Serves as a building proctor. Coordinates meetings, seminars, and other special events and provides on-site support. Is required to operate a motor vehicle to and from the department to local businesses or on campus locations to pick up food, equipment and supplies for department event and training.  Makes recommendations for process improvements, administrative changes, or new initiatives.
  • Record Management - Acts as the department contact for records retention. Supervises the creation, maintenance, and retention of office files and records. Serves as an information resource for retention schedule for University Police personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
