Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in office administration.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
  • Ability to organize work effectively and prioritize objectives with a high level of discretion and independent judgement and initiatives.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree.
  • 1-2 years of related office administrative experience.
  • Previous TAMU experience.
  • Previous KNSM experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities:

  • PROMOTIONS - Handles special projects as directed by the departmental leadership team. Coordinates, schedules and plans semester ending departmental meetings and ceremonies (retirements, awards). Serves as point of contact for all departmental awards. Coordinates and creates visual elements for faculty and staff meeting. Assists in the planning and implementation of special events hosted by the department (CSMRE Summit, lecture series, etc.) Works with department faculty and staff to maintain updated KNSM website information. Identifies and implements processes to complete projects. Develops administrative objectives and strategies. Formulates, interprets, and /or implements management policies or operating practices. Coordinates office records retention and maintains office references and resources materials.
  • SCHEDULING - Works in collaboration with program heads and advisors to develop, refine, and maintain the course schedule for all units at both graduate and undergraduates levels. Makes adjustments to the schedule as needed and provides recommendations for changes and optimization. Coordinates scheduling requests for classrooms and common spaces in Gilchrist Building. Prepares reports about teaching loads and performance to Program Heads and Department Head for annual evaluations.
  • DIVERSITY INITIATIVES - Serves on the department Climate and Diversity Committee. Plans and implements events related to climate. Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Informs and improves practices and processes as well as promotes collegiality through participation in the C&D activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
