The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, (the Corps) is the largest, oldest and most visible student organization and leadership training program at Texas A&M University. It is one of the largest uniformed bodies of students in the nation that provides hands-on leadership experience, enhances a world-class education from Texas A&M, and directly involves cadets in the traditions that make Aggieland so different from all other schools.

What We Want

The Office of Corps of Cadets Recruiting is actively engaged in recruiting students to join the Corps of Cadets to meet the university president’s goal of 3,000 cadets. We are looking for an energetic administrative coordinator who can multitask with a high attention to detail. The Admin Coordinator I, will greet visitors and make an important first impression, take phone calls, and emails and answer questions about Texas A&M admissions and financial aid, ROTC programs, and the Corps of Cadets. The Admin Coordinator I, will also, hire, supervise and schedule student workers and help prepare for, set up and provide support for office visits and recruiting programs. Applicants must be professional and able to interact informally with high school students and VIP visitors. What you need to know

Salary range:   $36,750 - $40,000 (Based on education and experience)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in office administration.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Google Documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and on phone.
  • Ability to deal with difficult and or frustrated people calmly and politely. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • Must be able to lift or move office chairs and heavy tables and boxes.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Customer service experience, recruiting experience.
  • Experience with Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, active military, National Guard or Reserve Force duty, Office of the commandant staff, Texas A&M staff, and Texas A&M students.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Texas A&M, Corps of Cadets, military.

Responsibilities:

  • Office Manager - Indirectly supervises a team of student workers that are responsible for data entry, preparation of mail outs, answering telephones and other administrative duties; provides logistical and administrative support for all recruiting programs (Spend the Night, Spend the Day, Aggie Eagle, JCAP, and New Student Conferences) to include, scheduling rooms, facility set-up, and preparation of handouts for New Student Conferences, Spend the Night with the Corps, Freshman Orientation Week (FOW), Spring Orientation Week (SOW), JCAP and Aggie Eagle Program, Spend the Day with the Corps; reserves rooms and equipment for events; ensures required forms are properly completed and received for program participation, kept secured and confidential; resolves non-routine administrative problems; explains and applies policies and procedures; makes recommendations for process improvement or administrative changes; develops and monitors office procedures to reduce duplication and streamline operations; and provides guidance on administrative operational methods and processes. Updates database and spreadsheets of prospect files and recruiting program participants.
  • Daily/Business Operations - Counsels students and parents about joining the Corps of Cadets and/or participating in recruiting programs; greets prospective students, parents and visitors; answers phone calls and returns voice messages from parents, students and Texas A&M staff about the Corps of Cadets and our recruiting programs; assist parents and students with online registration process, answer questions the Corps and the programs. Monitors the TAMU Visitor Registration System for those seeking appointments with the Corps Recruiting Office; maintains the calendar for five (5) recruiters; collects registration fees for major recruiting programs; processes receipts/deposits in the iPayment program; resolves database issues; schedules meetings and interviews; maintains office supplies; keeps inventory of supplies and brochures; seeks vendor bids for Recruiting Office promotional items to include lanyards, pens, t-shirts, and bags.
  • Prospect Counseling - Responds to questions, and counsels’ prospective cadets and parents about college plans and enrollment in the Corps of Cadets. Communicates University policies on admissions and financial aid to prospects and parents. Directs them to the proper office within TAMU as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
