A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education.

The College of Dentistry is looking for an Administrative Coordinator I to serve as a member of our Pediatrics team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in strategic planning and scheduling to ensure clinical operations are covered.
  • Monitors students’ progress with patients and confirms completed comprehensive care.
  • Schedules appointments by phone and/or in person and enters those appointments in Axium.
  • Handles initial pediatric faculty credentialing for the CHIP program and Medicaid and re-credentialing every 2 years thereafter for all faculty.
  • Reviews/proofreads documents for supervisor.
  • Attends meetings on behalf of the pediatric clinical director when necessary.
  • Analyzes eligibility requirements for Musick fund and submits acceptable applications to Department Head of Pediatric Dentistry for approval.
  • Provides technical information regarding administrative procedures, monitors daily patient and student attendance.
  • Responds to inquiries about rules, regulations, policies and procedures for the pediatric dental clinic.
  • Serves as liaison for coordination of appointment scheduling between parents, patients and D4 students; interprets operating practices for all parties involved.
  • Processes Medicaid and CHIP insurance claims; tracks receipt of payments to the dental college and ensures payments are posted correctly.
  • Files dental pre-authorizations and claims, requiring familiarity with dental coding.
  • Updates clinical manuals/documents for the pediatric clinical director; coordinates medical pre-authorizations for OR cases that are scheduled at Children’s Medical Center.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and retention of Medicaid and CHIP EOB records.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvements and any administrative changes.
  • Aids in training of pediatric clinical support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
