The Administrative Coordinator I – Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the Texas A&M Health Centralized Verification Office (CVO). This position will evaluate, analyze, and coordinate all aspects of the credentialing processes for practitioners practicing within the Texas A&M Health System clinical entities. This role is essential and provides integral support to healthcare operations by enabling timely onboarding of healthcare providers.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of experience in office administration

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Knowledge of privileging procedures and standards

  • 2+ years credentialing experience with hospital medical staff

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • NAMSS Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Services Manager (CPMSM) or Certified

  • Provider Credentials Specialist (CPCS)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to focus for extended periods

Responsibilities:

Credentialing/Recredentialing Providers:

  • Reviews and screens initial and reappointment credentialing applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards.

  • Conducts primary source verification, collects and validates documents to ensure accuracy of all credentialing elements; assesses completeness of information and qualifications relative to credentialing standards and Texas A&M Health System criteria.

  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves extraordinary information, discrepancies, time gaps and other idiosyncrasies that could adversely impact ability to credential and enroll practitioners; discovers and conveys problems to entity Medical Staff for sound decision making in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, credentialing policies and procedures, federal, state, local and government/insurance agency regulations.

  • Coordinates with contracted credentialing company to ensure appropriate verifications for efficient, high-volume processing of individual applications in accordance with applicable credentialing standards, established procedural guidelines, and strict timelines.

Maintain Hospital Privileges for Providers:

  • Communicates clearly with providers, their liaisons, entity Medical Staff Affairs, medical staff leadership and Administration, as needed to provide timely responses upon request on day-to-day credentialing and privileging issues as they arise.

  • Complete privileging and re-privileging forms for providers by prospective due dates.

Malpractice Insurance Grid:

  • Works with Risk Management to maintain institutional malpractice policy for providers. 

Credentialing Policies and Procedures:

  • Participates in the development and implementation of process improvements for the system-wide credentialing process; prepares reports and scoring required by regulatory and accrediting agencies, policies and standards.

  • Updates policies and procedures as needed. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
