The Administrative Coordinator will serve in the joint role of Office/Laboratory Manager for an active research laboratory in the Department of Biology. The incumbent will provide essential support in the areas of office administration and laboratory management, adherence to research laboratory compliance policies, laboratory freezer inventory management, administrative assistance with manuscript and report preparation, reconciliation of expenditures on research grants, placement of orders for research supplies, correspondence both within and outside of the department and the university, and other activities as required by the laboratory director. The individual will play a key role in hiring and supervising student employees and onboarding new laboratory personnel.
This is a part-time position at 32hrs/week.
The successful applicant is a well-organized, independent worker who will take an active interest in fostering the success of an diverse research team that includes graduate student and post graduate researchers, and who will bring strong communication skills, excellent inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact in a professional manner with student trainees, faculty and staff alike.
- BA/BS with 1-3 years related experience.
- Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, word processing, database management, electronic mail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior experience working in an academic or research laboratory setting, or an undergraduate background in science, is helpful but not required.
