Assists the Department Chair in managing and prioritizing administrative functions of the department, including coordination of staff and faculty personnel matters in WorkForUM and documentation of department records/forms; may be required to function independently during the absence of the chair as the business and financial designee. This requires coordination with Faculty Services, the Dean, HR, and the Provost.

Scheduling: Collects teaching preferences from all full/part-time faculty and graduate teaching assistants, tracks teaching loads, and schedules all lower and upper division undergraduate and graduate courses for the Department for each semester according to the official catalog and two-year template; also, revises template every other year with Chair. Performs prerequisite checks prior to start of enrollment and anticipates enrollment shifts. Tracks registration data/trends, communicates with Admissions and Orientation to anticipate registration numbers. This requires correspondence with various other offices and employees within the university, including Registrar, College of Arts & Sciences, MOCH, WMST/CROW, Provost’s Office, etc.
