Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary support for the Agricultural Science program’s student admission to teacher certification.
    • Point of contact for the College of Education’s TK20 data portal.
    • Monitor student GPA, semester by semester, to ensure admission into the teacher certification program.
    • Work with ISDs to ensure placement of student teachers.
    • Monitor student academic and clinical performance through completion of the teacher certification program and student licensure through the Texas Education Agency.
  • Arrange meetings, workshops, symposia, field trips, and phone and video conferences (time and location) with faculty members, teams of faculty members, government, and non-government officials on and off campus, and TAMU system students.
  • Serves as department parking request point of contact.
    • Track and renew department business parking.
    • Assist with visitor parking.
  • Support for departmental awards committee.
    • Work with Committee Chair to communicate calls for award nominations.
    • Maintain awards database.
    • Update awards deadlines and requirements.
    • Gather data for nominations with direction from Committee Chair.
    • Send nomination letters and submit nominations.
  • Serves as primary point of contact in reserving department space such as conference rooms and shared classrooms.
  • Assist faculty in arranging and preparing classroom materials for students. Schedule individual student meetings. Schedule joint meetings with students and faculty.
  • Operate standard office equipment such as photocopier, typewriter, fax, calculator, and telephone. Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including review of all incoming correspondence for prioritization.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED plus two years of administrative experience.

Required Knowledge Abilities and Skills:

Advanced Microsoft Office experience processing for internal and external letters, memos, reports, electronic mail, proposals, e.g., preparing forms, tables, charts, reference lists, and appendices, and pagination and formatting. Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
