Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The University of South Carolina (USC) is seeking someone who is organized, hard-working, personable, and detail-oriented to serve as the Administrative Assistant in University 101 Programs. University 101 Programs is an internationally renowned academic unit that focuses on helping students transition into, through, and out of the University of South Carolina. We offer 6 different courses with a total annual enrollment of close to 7000 students. These courses are taught by over 500 instructors and peer leaders. This position will provide high-level administrative support for University 101 Programs to ensure the continued success of the department. This position will serve as the primary point of contact and will perform a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails, opening and routing mail daily, and logging checks for University 101 and the National Resource Center. Primary duties include: · Assist with maintaining schedule of classes for UNIV 101, 201, 290, and 401 and provide scheduling assistance for students by granting overrides and authorizations. Assist with communicating master schedule changes to Registrar, proofing the UNIV schedule in Self-Service, and maintaining course schedule information in the University 101 Database. · Manage and order departmental supplies, including the materials checkout process for University 101 instructors to ensure staff and instructors have appropriate supplies. · Monitor TL/ABS timesheets for 40+ non-exempt instructors by reviewing and approving timesheets for accuracy to ensure timely payment The successful candidate will join a talented and experienced department whose work has significant impact on faculty, staff, and students at USC. |

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma and 4 years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or equivalency. |
Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of USC policies and procedures. Familiarity with Banner system. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as human relations skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationship with staff, faculty, and students. Must be organized, task oriented, and personable. |
