The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Admininstrative Assistant III on the Dahlonega campus. The Administrative Assistant will coordinate administrative process for the department head and other departments/units within the Mike Cottrell College of Business and university. Responsibilities include the management of budgets, travel, hiring, personnel, administrative workflows, and other departmental needs. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of PCard renewal.

  • Provides assistance primarily to the department head and other departments/units within the Mike Cottrell College of Business. Assistance may be requested by other faculty, staff, students, and the administration team. Work with faculty in the department on documentation requests/submissions for grants, accreditation, and other departmental needs.
  • Maintains and tracks departmental operating budgets for all campuses. Coordinates and requests purchases through the Dean¿s office. Tracks spending and prepares purchase paperwork for the department. Will work closely with the budget manager.
  • Manages fiscal, administrative, and academic records and prepares correspondence, agendas, reports, and other documents for the Department Head.
  • Assists with the on-boarding process for new hires within the department.
  • Facilitates the coordination of catering requests and space reservations. Reviews and processes travel for faculty within the department. Assists in submitting work orders to plant operations, IT or other university entities for work needed within the department.
  • Works with the Department Head and Associate Department Head to create departmental course schedules and cross-check room assignments and times.
  • Oversees candidate recruitment visits for departmental search committees.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of all office equipment, computer software, and administrative procedures. 
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level; Ability to work independent and calmly in an occasionally stressful environment; Ability to prioritize tasks. 
  • Takes initiative in solving problems and can develop creative solutions to challenges while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One (1) year of clerical or administrative experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
