JOB OVERVIEW
The Administrative Assistant II position exists to assist patients schedule appointment, check –in to their appointments, and register for their appointments in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Communication between patients and their healthcare providers is essential and this position assists in this process. Not only in making appointments, but conveying messages to their providers when a patient is having an emergency situation. The front desk position is the “gateway” to the doctor’s practice.
DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the specialty which combines surgical training with dental expertise for the treatment of diseases, injuries, tumors, and deformities of the face and jaws. We make use of all the diagnostic facilities of the UCSF medical center and admit patients to UCSF, Moffitt/Long hospital, San Francisco General Hospital, Mt. Zion Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. • High school graduation and three years’ of demonstrated experience working in a medical or dental office, registering, scheduling and speaking with patients on a daily basis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to demonstrate and communicate knowledge of medical and or dental insurance, being able to define and explain simple terms used daily
• Computer skills, demonstrated use of patient care software
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic type of oral issues and how they should be scheduled
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent phone skills
