Administrative Assistant I, Student Wellness Center

The Student Wellness Center Administrative Assistant supports the operations and staff of the Student Wellness Center. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant works to support all students to ensure their success while attending Cameron. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Director of the Student Wellness Center.

 Job Duties of the Administrative Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Professionally and efficiently execute Cameron University's commitment to student success.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director, office staff, and general office operations, including but not limited to providing attentive and friendly front-line service while greeting and screening visitors, answering phone calls, relaying complete and accurate messages, resolving issues students may have with medical and counseling referrals, and referring students to appropriate resources.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.
  • Manage and maintain the clerical and organizational duties related to the office.
  • Maintain efficient filing systems and databases for administrative areas.
  • Perform tasks to maintain financial records and accounts, including preparing requisitions, processing invoices, and assisting the Director with reconciling monthly office budgets and purchasing card receipts.
  • Serve as the office manager to ensure the office runs efficiently and maintains proper organization.
  • Serve as the liaison between the SWC and other departments while maintaining appropriate connections with other administrative staff.
  • Prepare, proofread, and maintain office documents, including correspondence, reports, schedules, inventory, and other materials.
  • Maintain social media accounts and assist in updating the departmental webpage.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and facilitating special office events, including evening and weekend events.
  • Must maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
  • Compile confidential statistical summaries of student data, event attendance, and demographic data to ensure proper detailed assessment and program evaluation.
  • Provide a compassionate, empathetic, and approachable persona to students and others campus-wide.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent
  • Able to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F
  • 1 to 2 years of administrative experience
  • Budget and purchasing knowledge
  • Strong organizational and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to professionally coordinate additional services with community providers
  • Thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Demonstrated expertise in database software, complex web-based computer programs
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and handle complex issues diplomatically and efficiently

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of administrative support experience
  • Knowledge of medical, physical, and mental health fields
  • Related experience at an institution of higher education
  • Experience or proficient knowledge of Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Ability to lift objects under 15 pounds, including using the upper body to raise things from a lower position to a higher position; ability to reach, including extending the arm and hand; ability to stand for short or extended periods; ability to engage in repetitive motions including finger dexterity; ability to speak, hear and see. Ability to crouch, climb, and walk stairs.

SALARY RANGE:

Funded at $24,000 with benefits.  Opportunity for performance compensation subject to approval and budgetary availability.
